Gidon Kremer (violin), Magdalena Ceple (violoncello), Andrei Pushkarev (vibraphone), Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra
“Raminta Šerkšnytė’s Musik ruht in nahezu magischer Weise in sich”
Wolfgang Sandner, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
PROGRAMME NOTE:
“This too shall pass”, for me, is one of the most thrilling quotations. It is consoling and tragical at the same time. It conveys the transience of everything, what is going on in nature and human life: youth, beauty, hard and joyful moments… On the other hand, thinking about temporality pushes to search for eternal things, to appreciate and to feel by maximum every moment of our life, realizing how quickly it passes away.
In my piece I tried to embody different aspects of time. The vibraphone symbolizes the constant and relentless flow of time, the „celestial“ cello – the slow and eternal time, the violin solo – the short and passing time of human being, the orchestra – the flow and power of time.
