MIDSUMMER SONG for string orchestra and optional percussion (2009)
VASARVIDŽIO GIESMĖ styginių orkestrui ir mušamiesiems (ad libitum) (2009)
PROGRAMME NOTE:
As in most of my compositions, the nature with its metaphorical comparison to the archetypical states of the human mind was my main inspiration in this piece as well. Summer solstice – this thrilling time of the shortest nights and longest days- for me always has associations with serenity and endless time. Therefore, my Midsummer Song is like a pantheistic song, like a long journey to eternal light and to our inner peace of mind.
